With reference to the running losses on the Canton steamers from outbreak of the Canton boyoott to the and of February, I have the honour to submit for the consideration of His Excellency, and in support of our appeal for assistance in meeting the running losses to the end of February and the inevitable further losses which must be met whilst present conditions obtain; certified accounts in support of our appeal and which have already been submitted to and approved by the Colonial Treasurer:-

The increased losses after December 1925 are due

to the fact that the s.s. "Honam" - a boat 42 years old had to be withdrawn as unfit for further service and was

replaced by the s.a. "Lungshan" the insurance value of which was $700,000 as against the insurance value of
